Although this was a week ago, I am just now getting to this posting. It was on MLK Day that we went hiking on a trail near Lake Mead. Last time we attempted to hike this trail we went the wrong direction and hiked down some old gravel road. On this attempt we found the right trail, although it was under construction to soon be paved for bikers and hikers, it was still a good hike. Usually we go hiking with our friends, Dan and Heidi Shelton, but Heidi is learning how to break backs in TX so it was just us, Dan, and the dogs (the dogs out numbered the people, 4 dogs to 3 us).
We did come across another animal along the way. It was far away and we aren't for sure what it was. I think it looks like a Big Horn Sheep. Nicole almost died on the trail when she saw it, she wanted to turn and run. It wasn't that she was scared for her own life, she thought the creature would eat the dogs.

The distant creature did not eat the dogs, the dogs didn't even realize it was there. And within a few seconds it ran off the trail and we were on our way again. We basically hiked until we got to a ridge were we could see the lake, it was a nice view. It was a good hike, only took us a few hours but we were both a little sore the next day. The dogs were pooped and slept the rest of the day. Hopefully we can get in many more adventures in with the dogs before we end up leaving Vegas.
