Buddys Birthday!

Buddy is growing up so fast, he turned 21 today! Well...actually he only turned 3, but in dog years he would be 21. Somehow he knew that today was his birthday, he woke up this morning with a little bit more energy than usual, he was excited to see us all day and was really happy all throughout the day. Although a few times he thought he could get away with telling us what to do since it was his birthday.

We decided to give him a little birthday party today, usually we invite his other dog friends to join in but today it was just family (it was planned at the last minute).

We took the boys to the pet store to get some new bones to chew on, we had to be fair and get them each one even though it was Buddy's big day. Then we took them to the District at Green Valley to walk around and to the Dog Bakery there to buy Buddy a special birthday treat (Nicole wanted me to say that she made these treats herself).
They loved the birthday treats, and just like any little kid would do, they licked the frosting off before eating the whole thing.

Over the few years that Buddy has been in our lives we have seen him grow from just a few pounds to just about 20. He is still a little dog with a big attitude, since we have brought Bandit into the family Buddy has shown his protective side. He is always willing to jump in and stand up for Bandit at the park and around the house. Whenever Bandit does something to get himself into trouble and we attempt to discipline him, Buddy steps in and takes Bandits side. Whenever we are on a walk and we come across a nice cool patch of grass Buddy insists on doing his army crawl and rolls through it before we can keep walking. He is still deathly afraid of grates or sewage covers and wont dare step on them or anything that even looks like them. Whenever I leave to go to work I attempt to say goodbye and give Nicole a kiss, Buddy tries to tell me I can't leave yet by jumping in between us while growling at me (he is really sweet about it though, he stops growling when I finally give him a goodbye kiss). Buddy and Bandit have been great pleasures in our lives, we treat them and they act like they are our children. We hope that one day when we have real children of our own that Buddy and Bandit will continue to bring enjoyment into our family.

aawwhh! I love Buddy, he has such a sweet personality...I am not a fan of small dogs, but Buddy melts my heart. Oh, and if you're listening, we like you too Bandit!
