It has been over a month now since I submitted my applications to the various law schools. I was told by each of the schools that I should expect to get a response around the beginning of March. As of today I have gotten responses from two schools. I have heard from Lewis & Clark in Portland, Oregon and from Vermont Law School in South Royalton, Vermont. These two schools are the top two on my list, I have said that if I get into either one of these I would accept without even waiting to hear from all the other schools. The news I am about to share might make some readers happy and some readers sad. Each school is on opposite sides of the country, as is my family and Nicole's family.
The first school that sent me a response was Vermont, what I heard from them was better then a no. Vermont has put me on their Wait List. In the letter they sent me they stated, "In past years, a significant number of applicants from the Wait List are ultimately admitted". I did some research and found that being on a Wait List means that you still have a good chance of getting in, I can now expect to hear from Vermont anytime between now and early May.
Lewis & Clark is the other school that I have heard from, which is also the number one school that I would prefer to attend. It is also the hardest of all the schools I applied at to get accepted. My scores were in their lower end of accepting scores, Lewis & Clark was my long shot school. This letter did not come bearing surprising news, the letter basically read as I had expected it to read. However it did not read as I had dreamed/hoped it would read. The letter stated the admissions committee decided not to offer me a seat at Lewis & Clark Law School. As I said this did not come as surprising news due to the fact that my scores were very low according to their standards.
I am disappointed to know that I will not be attending Lewis & Clark and anxious to hear if I survive the wait list at Vermont, but there are still six more schools that I have not gotten a response from yet. All of which I stand a far better chance of getting admitted to over these two that I have gotten responses from. I will continue to update my law school status as I hear from more schools in the coming days/weeks.
