It may seem as though I have given up on our blog since all the recent postings have been from Nicole, but that is just because she is a better blogger then I have been. This week did not start out very well for me, but we did end it with a fun adventure.
Since 1997 when I first got my drivers license I had been accident free until this past Monday. There may have been a few times that I bumped up a fender or two, but those never occurred with another vehicle or moving at more then a few miles per hour. On my way home from work on Monday this perfect track record changed. Since the accident is still being "investigated" by the insurance companies I will not mention many details. Another car cut across my lanes of traffic hit my front fender/bumper area.

The damage doesn't look very bad, but the drivers side fender was smashed in pretty badly and the driver door wouldn't open all the way. When I would turn the car on it would make really loud clunking/grinding noises and if I tried to drive those noises got worse. The car wasn't drivable so it had to be towed away, the car is in the possession of the insurance company figuring out the damages. As far as I can tell I have no injuries, which is odd since I work for a personal injury attorney. The other driver was cited as being at fault and was given a ticket. The other driver was given a sobriety test by the police officer and seemed to have passed, but he still didn't understand why he was at fault. He kept trying to imply that it was my fault since I didn't yield my right of way to him. The police officer kept telling him that if he was going to drive in Nevada then he needed to learn the laws (the other driver was not from the USA). I have always complained about all the bad drivers in Las Vegas and now this week I got to experience one first hand!
The week seemed to go by really fast with the stress of a car accident but despite all the troubles we ended the week with a fun trip to Mt. Charleston.

It had been quite some time since we took the boys to the Mountains for a hiking trip, in fact it was Bandits first trip to Mt. Charleston. It was nice to escape the city and enjoy the little nature that exists here.

As you can see from the picture that was still a little bit of snow in the Mountains, it made it for a nice hike. When the wind would blow you could feel the cool air coming off the snow. The boys don't get to see snow living in Las Vegas and we weren't sure if they would remember snow, since the last time they saw the snow was Christmas at the Cabin. When Buddy came across the cold white mystery he was so excited, he jumped right in it just like he was back in Idaho.

Every chance Buddy got he would jump and dig his way in. Bandit wasn't so interested in the snow, but he wasn't interested in it at the cabin either. Although Bandit did enjoy eating up the dirty clumps of snow that Buddy was digging at.

We really enjoyed getting out of town and getting some exercise, although we all (including the boys) realized how out of shape we were. The second we got back in the car the boys laid down and fell asleep before we could even start the car. Nicole and I had plans to go out that night after the hike but realized that we just needed to lay down and rest for a while (I feel like we are getting old). Hopefully we can get out of town and enjoy more of the good sides of Southern Nevada before we ultimately move from here.

Oh, I miss hanging out with you guys so much. We went to a cool "hike" here, but it would have been 100x better with you guys and the boys. I hope things go well with the car.
