Many of you know that soon we will be leaving Las Vegas and moving to Vermont so that I can attend Vermont Law School. Technically I haven't been accepted into the JD (Law) program yet, I am in the MSEL (Masters 0f Studies in Environmental Law) program to start. I am however still on the wait list at Vermont Law School and any day now they should be making their final decisions regarding the wait list. Either way I will be attending VLS in the fall and my legal education will begin. There are many reasons for me to be looking forward to the next few years, despite all those reasons there are also many things that make me nervous, scared, and sometimes feel nauseous. The main thing is the financial situation that I will be getting us into, whenever I stop to think about how much debt we will be getting into I start to feel slightly nauseous and almost begin to regret choosing to take this career path.

I am aware that most law students take out an enormous debt to obtain their education, especially those that go to private/specialized highly ranked schools. Nicole and I have been blessed with loving families that have helped us to get through our undergraduate degrees without having to take out student loans (we still look forward to their blessings as I attend Law School), but the financial burden is far greater now. As I have looked for comfort or help coping with the idea of such a debt I have looked to other students preparing for law school and read the stories that they share about this topic. I am not alone in the nauseating feeling that tuition costs brings. Many other students blog/write about their financial fears, but today as I was browsing some future law students postings I found out that these financially strapped students had more than just their broke student life to be concerned about.

I only wish I had to worry about whether or not my brand new 40K BMW would be able to get me to and from school in the snow. I look forward to the other students that I will get to meet and study with that will have the same interest and desires as I do. But its the type of person that complains about tuition costs and then complains about how to deal with their expensive toys that annoys me. Maybe they should sell their useless vehicle and pay for tuition and stop complaining. I am not trying to say that no one should spend their money on BMW's (one day I would like to own one), just don't complain or try to relate to others with debt concerns when you really don't have one. I am not pinpointing anyone in particular, just expressing my great annoyance for those that are ignorant and venting about my own financial concerns.

On a completely different note but one that almost everyone can relate to, GAS PRICES! I am not going to get into this topic much because everyone has their ideas as to why the prices are so high. But recently I was at the gas station filling up my car and I got a glimpse into the future of gas prices. (the image may be difficult to read, but it shows that 1.123 Gallons has been pumped at the cost of $25.92)

I'm excited for you guys to get going on your career! We too are looking foward to this. School debt certainly in taunting...that's why we joined the army, but it will pay off in the end. You are right, your not alone! Just keep your eye on the goal! It will all work out!
Pet Peeve #799: People that complain about their education costing too much money!
