Going Out With A Bang! Part 2

Out of all the holidays that we celebrate throughout the year, Independence Day is Nicole's favorite. There are many reasons to enjoy the 4th of July, but I think Nicole's favorite part is the firework shows. When we lived in Idaho we would go to the Idaho Falls show, which claims to be the biggest and best in the west. Its called the Melaleuca Freedom Celebration, they coordinate the fireworks with songs on the radio. It was at the Idaho Falls show were I asked Nicole to marry me. People travel to Idaho just for the celebration and it can be hard to find a good spot to watch the show. Lucky for me I found a great spot on a hill right between a tree and the highway off-ramp.

Since we have lived in Las Vegas we have been going to the Henderson celebration (except for the first year we lived here when we attempted to see the Lake Las Vegas show with Nicole's mom). It isn't always enjoyable celebrating when the heat is breaking 110 degrees, so this year we timed it just right. We got there in time to catch both of Nicole's favorite things, cotton candy and fireworks.

The one thing that we did not get to do this year was sparklers, I think this may have been the first year that Nicole has not burned some sparklers (our apartment complex prohibits any form of fireworks). Since the dry desert is already a fire waiting to happen we didn't mind missing out on the opportunity to contribute. Although fireworks are a major part of Independence Day, just like Santa Clause is to Christmas, its not why we celebrate.
