Instructional Blog on How to Enjoy your Halloween Weekend

Without jobs life has been a little slow and boring at times, but with Halloween and holidays coming around the corner there has a been a little excitement in our jobless lives.

This past week we got our first major snow storm of the season. Snow storms get me excited! The night the snow started falling was like the night before Christmas, I just couldnt sleep. I couldn't wait until the morning to wake up to a fresh blanket of snow. It started snowing Tuesday night, all day Wednesday, and finally let up today. During this time we got well over a foot of snow, some places more and some places less. Buddy and Bandit love the snow (almost as much as I do), they were like little kids playing in it. We couldn't get them to make snow angels or build snowmen, but they did enjoy prancing through it and doing their business in it.

With Halloween coming in a few days we couldn't pass up the tradition to carve pumpkins. There are several important steps to carving pumpkins, read and learn!

Find a good pumpkin patch to pick your pumpkin!

Clean out all the good stuff, eat it if you want but we didn't.

Get someone with a good eye for design to decide what to carve.

Light up your pumpkin creations with some candles and you got your Halloween Jack-O-Lanterns.

Turn off the lights to see how scary they can be!

Just don't let your excellent pumpkin carving skills go to your head.

Halloween is not just about carving pumpkins, its also about satisfying your sweet tooth. If you remember from a previous blog Nicole mentioned one of her new favorite treats. Doc Popcorn's Carmel Popcorn. I have to say the popcorn is really good, when we get it we eat it fast. The popcorn is not expensive and its also not cheap, and besides the closest place to buy it is not just around the corner. Since we are living on a limited budget I wanted to find a cheaper way to have this delicious treat more often. I will show you how I made this boring bowl of popcorn....

...into this...

...and then into this...

The first step that I took was to find a simple recipe on the internet, I googled "Caramel Popcorn Recipes" and after searching through a couple of different ways I decided upon this one. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Caramel-Popcorn/Detail.aspx
Since dogs don't/shouldn't eat Caramel Popcorn I cut the recipe in half.

Once you have the recipe (you can choose a different one if you want, but it might not taste as good as this one), you need to get your workstation set up.

Once you have popped the right amount of popcorn you need to prepare the special sauce.

And then pour it evenly over the popcorn and mix it around.

Make sure that you don't just follow my directions but follow all the directions in the recipe. If you do this then you should come out with a delicious bowl of Caramel Popcorn.

Enjoy! I know we did, just don't eat it all in one sitting!

Happy Halloween!
