Our Trip to Vermont

This past weekend Nicole and I took a weekend trip to Vermont to check out Vermont Law School to see if it was the school that I would go to.
We also had to opportunity to stay and visit with Nicole's sister and her husband, Brittni & Jim. They were very nice and allowed us to stay in their beautiful home (I wish I had taken more pictures) and eat their good food. Brittni and Jim have two children of their own, they are not your typical children though. Sherman and Norm are very cute, it is not known for sure if they are male or female but either way it was obvious that Brittni and Jim care about their children.

(Again, I wish I had taken more pictures, this one I stole from Brits Blogs) Sherman and Norm are turtles, you might think that turtles are strange pets but they were actually very interesting. In their backyard Sherman was an adventurous turtle. He would stretch his head above the grass as if he saw something in the distant and he always seemed like he had somewhere he had to be. And the cute screams that he would make, well Nicole says they will haunt her forever! Brittni, we apologize for the long drives through winding New England roads, but we really appreciated your company and your car! Thank you Brittni and Jim for letting us stay and visit with you, we look forward to moving out there and being able to visit more often.

Vermont Law School was great, it is located in the small town of South Royalton (SoRo). Everything is green, which is a big difference from the brown, dirty, and dry Vegas. It seemed as though I could actually breath there, there isn't much to pollute the air in Vermont.

We spent most of our time there searching for housing, we only got to look at a few places. The first apartment that we looked at the landlady was a little crazy. The windows were falling out and I asked her if she was going to fix them and she told me they were antique Vermont windows. The apartment used to be house and was converted into a duplex and the only thing separating the two were a few lockable doors, which she was intending on sealing up with a piece of plywood that was smaller then the door itself. I don't mean to bash the lady but she basically laughed at us and then when I emailed her that we didn't want the place she rudely responded back. She would have made for a difficult landlady anyways. Not to mention about 20 feet from the house were the train tracks. We ended up choosing a nice house within walking distance of the school (with really nice landlords). This way I can ride my bike (which I havent used in almost 4years), walk, or even ski to school. It is bigger than we need, but all the housing is priced about the same regardless of the size. It is a 3 bedroom, 1 bath, 2 level house.
Across the street is a river, possibly a branch off the White River, but we could fall asleep to sound of the river running.

Another part of our trip that was special and also special about the part of the world that we will be living in is that it is where Joseph Smith Jr. was born and raised. Sharon is the birth place of the prophet and it is only a few miles from South Royalton. The LDS chapel that we will be attending is also located on the memorial grounds.
We are both very excited about moving to Vermont and for me to attend Vermont Law School. It will be a major culture change from Las Vegas, but I think that is what we are looking for. It will be sad to leave Vegas since this is were we started our lives together but I think we are both ready to move on. We still have a few have a few more months before we leave, hopefully we can use those months to enjoy the things we like about this city and forget about the reasons why we want to leave it.

-Brian

PS- We can't forget to thank David & Maggi for dog-sitting Buddy and Bandit for us. We know that our dogs are a little crazy, so thank you David & Maggie!

Crazy lady had replied rudely? Why? She supposedly has someone who wants it "sight unseen" or whatever. Oh well you got a great place!

It looks like a great place you guys. We are moving back to Las Vegas in a month or so and it seems like all our friends are leaving before we get there. Not fair.

If you guys need a place to stay the night while you are driving cross country to Vermont when its time to move, please keep us in mind. We would love for you to take a pit stop at our place on your way to Vermont. Maybe by then we will be in our new home.
