Vermont or Bust! - Day 2 Everything is Bigger in Texas

We ended the 2nd day of our adventure across the States in the giant state of Texas. We have come to find out that everything is bigger in Texas, a truck drove past us hauling the largest tires we have ever seen. We hit a swarm of bugs that splattered our windshield in the same way I would have expected Slimmer from the Ghost Busters to hit our windshield. Bandit almost got carried away by a grasshopper that was as big as his head.

Today was our long drive, almost 12 hours in the car. I think the boys got sick of the car, every time we stopped they would go into a panic until we got them out.

Before we got to Texas we had to drive through Arizona and New Mexico, we passed "The Thing" but we did not get to find out what it was?

We drove through what seemed like an endless Wind Farm in Texas. It was strange because only about half of them were spinning. It was cool to see the open space being used for renewable energy.

The sun was setting behind us as we drove, Nicole managed to take a picture of the beautiful scene as we drove away.

As the night set in the drive became intense, shortly after it was completely dark we began to spot deer on the side of the highway. After the first few sighting of the deer only a few feet from the road we slowed our speed and kept our eyes peeled for more. Over the next two hours of driving we counted over a couple dozen deer grazing on the shoulder and in the median of the freeway. We were grateful that we made it to our destination without encountering any of these deers on the road. (I'm guessing they were not typical Texas deer since they were all small)

We are excited about the next leg of our trip, we will get to take a break from driving and spend it in Houston and New Orleans with some of our good friends.

Texas has the most wind power in the U.S. - Deer Season is a big past time in West Texas. Nice sunset.
