We decided to take a trip to Montreal before we leave the East Coast. With our passports and our guide book in hand we headed only three hours north and we were there!

If anyone has had the pleasure ;) to go sight seeing or traveling with me, I always have a plan and I pack the days full . I want to see and do everything - We covered the whole guide book, of course we didn't go inside of everything we saw, but we did trek all over Montreal.

Brian loved these fake flowers

Brian at the ... (Brian already packed up the guide book and I can't remember)

Me in the quaint streets of the waterfront area of Montreal
We found the best little shopping alleyways. We would go down one small alley and then turn down another small alley, with step all in between and we found these fun little shops.

I couldn't resist buying something from these shops. They wooed me into opening my wallet.
Montreal has many festivals. In fact I doubt you could go to Montreal with out running in to at least one of them. While we were there they were setting up for the Jazz festival, we saw the Fireworks Competition and I thoroughly enjoyed Main Madness.

They close Main street in Montreal and all the shops bring out their sale racks and put up tents, there are lots of food vendors and other fair type activities. I even got cotton candy!
We didn't just walk the streets of Montreal, we rode the subway to an island and found that it was infested with little Bandits... No, I'm not sure what these little guys are, but they were everywhere. I think this one has been to the vending machine.

This is the Biosphere and a Solar House, Brian really liked this.

We did a lot of walking around the island on little trails and looking at the great view.

We also rented Bikes. There are bike stands all over Montreal and you just swipe your debit card, grab a bike and then return it to the next bike stand. We couldn't read what it said in French so we just kept pressing buttons until a bike came out. It was a little risky, not knowing what we were getting ourselves in to, but very exciting. We took a nice 30 minute ride along the board walk.

We ate dinner and then searched for an ice cream shop (I have a weakness for ice cream). It was so beautiful at the water front at night.

We also saw a light show at the Notre-Dame Brasilica. I really enjoyed it, but Brian and most of the written reviews were disappointed in it.

We went to an area of town that is know for shopping in the day time but racy night time activities. It was a very weird mix of signs that said Gucci and then this a couple stores down.

The underground city had a lot of entrances around this area of town. We went down to that "city" but it really just a very large glorified mall. Not impressed and spent a whole 10 minutes down there.

Opps! Brian tipped over that pottery.

One of our days there, we ate lunch at a little bistro and listened to live street music.
Brian really loved the following items. There were a couple of things out of place.
Can you see them?

I loved Montreal, it was very romantic!

I went to Montreal before you guys did! Hey, did you see the street cleaners? You would know which ones I am talking about, they look like a Dr. Suess creation? Did you know all churches on the island require a green roof? So if you saw the stake center there you would notice it has a green roof. Yep, we could go up there when we come see you in August...oh, that's right, your running away to Virginia!
Oh canada, our home and native land......... i guess you know how the rest of the song goes. so you are leaving the east coast? what are you going to do now?
